Co-Presidents: Cris Harter and Susanne Monasa

SWC Co-President’s Message 2014-2015
“I’m convinced of this: Good done anywhere is good done everywhere. For a change, start by speaking to people rather than walking by them like they’re stones that don’t matter. As long as you’re breathing, it’s never too late to do some good.” Maya Angelou

The above quote of Maya Angelou’s is inspirational and deserves some reflection as we move into our next year as the Stamford Woman’s Club. 2015 will mark 110 years since we’ve been established. A lot has transpired over that time and the Stamford Woman’s Club has done a lot of “good”. We have supported our community through volunteerism, funding and leadership. Over the years we have given hundreds of thousands of dollars to worthwhile charities and established scholarships in secondary schools and at UCONN. We’ve supported the library, health related charities, literacy, veterans, the food bank and many, many other charitable concerns. And in the process of making our mark in the Stamford community, we’ve made friendships that will last a lifetime.

The club has a wonderful legacy but we need to continue to build on this foundation as we move further into our second century. All of our members must step up and volunteer for club related tasks. This is critical to our survival. We have open positions on the SWC Board of Directors as well as other ad hoc leadership opportunities. Call us to step up and volunteer. You really will be glad you did.

This year will be an exciting one. So that we can be inclusive of our younger and working members, we will have an evening meeting in October with a program that will be sure to delight. We will continue to have our luncheon meetings in September, December and May. The Program Committee has worked hard to plan meetings throughout the year that will be fun and informative. The Garden Department developed an outstanding schedule of programing for the coming year which we’re sure you will enjoy. You can check out all these opportunities in the pages that follow.

We want to thank you for the privilege and honor that you have bestowed upon us to serve as your Co-Presidents for the 2014-2015. And finally we want to leave you with another quote by Maya Angelou:

“Love life, engage in it, give it all you’ve got. Love it with passion, because life truly does give back, many times over, what you put into it.”
